Ashbourne News, 11th October 1918
'Mr. Noel Lee, of Hognaston, has just been officially notified that his son, Private Rowland Lee, of the 2/7th Sherwood Foresters, is believed to have died about September 26th, 1917. He was at first reported missing, but as nothing has been heard of him, it is thought he must have been killed. He was held in high esteem by all who knew him, and great sympathy is felt with the family in their sad loss. His brother, who joined the colours in August, 1915, has recently been discharged.'
